Our Wedding Vows
Few things in this life
are as meaningful and lasting as one's vows to their lifemate. Below are
the vows that Jim and I exchanged with one another at our wedding.
Officiant: Beth and Jim you have chosen each other as partners in life's journey. If you are ready to affirm your vows, please answer yes.
Beth and Jim together: Yes
Officiant: Have you brought to this marriage
symbols of your love?
Beth and Jim together: Yes
(Best Man and Maid of Honor step forward to present their rings to Beth
and Jim)
Officiant: A ring is an unbroken circle, a symbol of unity and love, representative of the greater circle of life of which we are all a part. Having neither beginning nor end, but a continuous cycle that begins with the gift of life and continues through to the end of time.
(Officiant turns to Jim)
Do you Jim, accept this ring as a loving symbol of Beth's vows to you?
(Jim answers "Yes" or "I Do")
Officiant: Jim please take Beth's hand and repeat after me:
"I Jim, take you, Beth, to my heart and spirit, to be my soul mate. I promise to love you wholly and completely without restraint, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in poverty, in life and beyond, where we shall meet, remember, and love again. I give to you now this ring as a symbol of my eternal love for you and with it I pledge to you my love, my fidelity and my commitment. I shall respect you, your beliefs, your people, and your ways as I respect myself."
(Jim places the ring on Beth's finger)
(Officiant turns to
Beth and repeats the same process. Beth answers yes, repeats the
same vows and places the ring on Jim's finger.)
