41/51 # 98740 you didnt From: YAMABUSHI on Mon Mar 13 5:12pm answer the question: Where did she COME FROM? Curious and Indigestible.. Yama bushi 42/51 # 98767 Well, actually... From: TRITON on Mon Mar 13 9:32pm it seems I read somewhere that scientists decided that at one point there were only 40 cheetahs on the earth. This was because of genetic testing which showed that so few genetic traits currently exist among their population, that they could only have arisen from a limited stock. So I pose the question: if mankind started with only 2, why is there currently such a diverse set of genotypes, since there is only a limited number present in any two individuals? Just wunnerin'. I want to make an editorial point, that I only pose this question out of scientific curiosity and a sincere desire to know the truth, not to shoot anybody down the way that has become the style lately... :) 43/51 # 98786 TRITON From: SHO KOSUGI on Mon Mar 13 11:54pm Well if you read the bible it tells you. Got had to have a way to keep people from comunicating so he spead people out with thier own lang. and all. I really don't have time to go in depth but if you have questions feel free to ask. 44/51 # 98809 SURPRIZINGLY From: CAVE MAN on Tue Mar 14 5:55am Current genetic research on pattern matching found a common thread in all the women(they tested) on earth. Men donot carry the pattern intact. So they they believe in the Single motherer of the human race that Eve would have been. FE...you ALWAYS say that... and you STILL havent answered the question... Where did Cains wife come from? 45/51 # 98818 Cain's wife From: EZEKIEL on Tue Mar 14 9:24am Where did Cain's wife come from? Well, the Bible doesn't say directly. But if you look closely at the Bible, whenever it talks about the children being born, it seldoms mentions female births. Also, whenver a census was taken (for example, in the book of Numbers and the book of Leviticus) the females were never counted, only the men. Not only were the females left out of the count, but so were the children, male and female (anyone under the age of 20). Now you may say this was becausause of male chauvinism, but in these cases the census was for those capable of going to war. Therefore, generally anytime a census or count is mentioned with no references to females, you might be able to think of the result as being about 1/3 of the total population. Also, somebody was talking about where the variations came from. The variations came from mutations. Not mutations as in from one species to another. I'm talking about mutations as in changes of genetic information being passed on from one generation to another. These mutations can be caused by things such as radiation (i.e. from the sun). I have a question for all of you. What is your purpose for asking all of these questions? Are you trying to tear down the Bible or are you really trying to find something that proves the Bible to be true? You are asking a lot of questions relating to things that maybe nobody except God knows the answer to. If you don't want to see any real proof, then keep asking questions with no known answers, but don't expect to get anywhere. That's like me saying, "Is our universe an open system or closed system?". No one really knows the answer to that. So I could say then "Well, you can't answer that, so science must be false." Not true. I would simply have asked an unreasonable question to expect an answer to. So if you're really seeking an answer about whether the Bible is true or not, what God is like, or if He even exists, think a little more seriously about the motivation behind your questions and what you will accomplish by asking the questions. 46/51 # 98829 some From: YAMABUSHI on Tue Mar 14 2:51pm of the most useless metaphysical bull Ive ver seen... These questions HAVE answers. Those who are faithful to christ merely dont pay attetnion them. I should say those who believe in creation as thre can be one w/out the other. As Ive always said if you were in PUBLIC SCHOOL and PAYED ATTENTION to biology or perhaps(GASP!) cracked a book, there would BE such a half-assed agrument. Where did she come from? She was there.Anywhere. It doesnt matter because Ezekiels post states (although indirectly) there WERE people Before adam and eve. 47/51 # 98839 Actually, From: TEMPEST on Tue Mar 14 4:21pm Ezekiel made a very excellent post. I attend a PUBLIC SCHOOL AND PAY ATTENTION, as a matter of fact, I excel in investigations. Ezekiel was saying that Cain and Abel were the twin sons of Adam and Eve, but back then, the account of the women was seldom included. Cain therefore probably wed his sister, as did most of the humans before the ban on incest was given by God. If YOU all would read the adequate explanations given, by both Fire Excape and Ezekiel, you would see that both answered the questions that have been asked. Now, as Ezekiel had said, it seems that some just ask questions to tear another apart--when offered an answer, they ignore it. Yama. Go back and look at their posts, put them together, think about them, keep an open-mind, and want to find out the truth. Fundamentalists don't have an exclusive right on close-mindedness and dogmatism... 48/51 # 98879 On another subject, From: THE PRODIGAL SON on Wed Mar 15 12:17am Ever noticed how non-Christians go around pointing fingers at Christians and saying "Those Christians are SOOO 'holier-than-thou'!!"? But I've never heard a true Christian say that he or she was better than anyone else. In fact, it has been quite the OPPOSITE. Christians own up to the fact that we humans (Christians included) are imperfect scum. That hardly sounds as if they are saying that they are better than someone else. On the other hand, I hear- on an almost daily basis- Humanists, New Agers, Neo-pagans, etc. going around with the idea that "Man is inherently GOOD and is constantly getting better in the process toward acheiving pefection". Sounds to me like it is the HUMANISTS who have the holier than thou attitude. 49/51 # 98901 Deities and Creation From: S'TALON on Wed Mar 15 2:53am Why are we still arguing over an UNPROVEABLE point for over 3 years here. Does it really matter if we were created or evolved? Or whether Cain committed incest or not. Not really. I personally beleive in a mystical and direct creation by a Creator, but I don't go spreading my views and prostelyzing luikeike a rabid cleric. However, I am sick of some thumpers saying "You must follow this version of a Higher Power" and shunning you (or slandering you) if you do not, or worse yet you don't follow ther narrow-minded views. ZJesus spoke of forgiveness, opne-mindedness, honesty and heaing. Not of te warath and brimstone that is more typical of a Baal cleric than a Christian (or anyone else claiming to follow a good deity). Everytime I see a philo board anywhere these days, I am reminded of he song "Witch Hunt" by Rush. Quick to Anger, Quick to Judge, Slow to Understand. And as far as te Chrsitian end of songs, go I am reminded of "Vicars of Fate" by Saint. Especially, when I hear some of these preachers® Sorry about the b*tching, but after seeing te same shit for three years on religous-philo boards, the preaching and te cleric's prostelyzing does get a bit old. 50/51 # 98916 A question From: OLIVER WENDELL JONES on Wed Mar 15 4:48am Why is it that when religious people say "find out the truth" they mean "come to believe our version of the story". Believe both are true if you'd like. The past is all in our minds anyway, and therefore may be different for each individual. I find the pseudo-rational explanations put forth by most Christians on these boards to be not only conceited and naive, but rather self-rationalizing. "The bible is true because God says so. Where? In the bible, of course." Okay... I see... "This sentence may or may not be self-referencing." You're all talking circles around yourselves. 51/51 # 98943 Amen.. From: FIRE ESCAPE on Wed Mar 15 1:54pm S'Talon. Love is the aim of all the law. But without Jesus, Love is just another vain emotion. No one here wants to eliminate anyone's freedom, all the Christians I know desire that all be Liberated, from sin and death, this is where true freedom lies. Whose slave are you? Tempest, Ezekiel and Prodigal..Good Answer, and Ditto on every letter! Fire Escape 50/58 # 99002 Well... From: DR MARVEL on Wed Mar 15 11:09pm S'Talon, I don't see Jesus being very open minded about belief in God he very pointedly said "I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No man cometh to the Father, but by Me." That sounds very closed minded to me. In essence "It's going to be this way or no way and that's that." 51/58 # 99006 Sctuff From: S'TALON on Thu Mar 16 12:36am FE- Who's slave am I? I am noone's slave. I am a free man. Slavery went out a 100 years ago. Are you claiming God is part of the Slaver's Guild, FE. People find a Higher Power, becuase they find one through self-realization and examining themselves and others and the Creation around them. And I love the Creator becuase it is right to do so (for me), not becuase some book or some cleric told me I must. How do I know God doesn't want a bunch of slaves like the thumpers are. If God wanted a bunch of willing slaves, he would have created robots, not free beings, who have the essence of God in them to think (novel concept, eh, FE) and choose for themselves. To examine and explore the universe around them and decipher how it works. Humans and the rest of Creation excercising its talents and removing Corruption is what pleases God, not a bunch of people in a church being fed their slave-program for the week by a cleric and then giving all of their money to that cleric, so he can payoff some prostitute® -S'Talon 52/58 # 99011 S'Talon, I agree with the From: THE PRODIGAL SON on Thu Mar 16 2:11am point you were making in your last paragraph there. "Humans... excercising talents... removing Corruption..." and "Not sitting around in Church". I agree with those ideas. Indeed, removing Corruption and setting slaves free is EXACTLY what God wants us to do. Isaiah 60, verses 1 and 2 tell us, among other things, to help the brokenhearted, proclaim FREEDOM for the captives, and release the prisoners from darkness. Verse two also says to comfort those who mourn. This is I think what you were saying, that we should be out helping people, instead of sitting in church all the time. I agree very much with that. After all, where did Jesus spend most of His time? In the streets, teaching and ministering to the people! And as imitators of God (Ephesians 5:1) as Jesus taught us, this is where we should be, too. You have a good gift for insight, S'Talon. You made me look at the directive God gave us in a new way, and I learned something positive from it. Thanks. 53/58 # 99029 Jesus also TAUGHT in the From: IRONMAN on Thu Mar 16 9:30am synagogues, so let's not lose sight of the fact that churches can rightfully be places of worship. If the church you attend leaves you feeling like you're listening to some "slave program", then I'd recommend you examine your church a little more closely. If the Word of God is being preached ( NOT some sort of church doctrine ) and you still feel like it's some sort of "slave program", S'Talon, then I'd have to recommend that you ask yourself some serious questions. As for being a slave, well, yes, HOPEFULLY I am a "slave" to Christ. You can't serve two masters, doncha know ! It's either the world or the Word. 54/58 # 99037 Also don't!! From: JIMI on Thu Mar 16 2:51pm Pull the Quabalism out of the Biblical explantions. Since it was taught at the Synogagues at that time being mostly Hasidiac (since the Hasidiac Orders Stress the Quabala being taught). It explains in the Bible that Christ went to the synagogues (sp?) regularly and talked to the Rabbi's. Since he was called Rabbi himslef which is a title, one who is knowledgable in the Quabala and other church doctrines.. He used quite a bit of it in his teachings since at that time it was taught to most of the classes in one form or another.. IF anyone one of you have done much reading in the Quabala he is speaking of the Middle Pillar and he is sitting in Tipereth (which is the spot of the Son or Sun). The Father would be in Kether (Archtypal Ideas and Pure Consciousness). The only way to get there up the Middle Pillar would be through Tipereth.. Since the Quabala is taken into most religions including being the basis of Christianity and Judiaism and most other religions can be broken down into it. It dates as far back as the Pyramids and Ancient Egypt. Since the Cadusues (sp?) is the same symbol and came from the Egyptian Temples as did Moses or Mosheh (whatever you wish to call him). 55/58 # 99039 World or the Word From: YAMABUSHI on Thu Mar 16 3:27pm Nope. As Ive told FE, I have feelings and emotions, I try to show compassion. Yet I dont need a god to tell me this. Being a slave is worthless. Of course if that is the general attitude Im not surprised. The "yes Massuh" mentality is rampant thru the Christian religion. IT GETS YOU NOWHERE but to a closed mind (God knows, scuse me, ITs obvious How much life closes our minds already, who needs something ELSE!?) . Why is it that thumpers( wish there was a better word) cant see that there are good people w/out a god? Somewhere it has been said that one musnt associate with the godless(meaning immoral evil, in my Book, GODless in most others). That is atrocious! Avoiding one because they feel a certain way, believe a certain way, is bigotry. I wonder how many loving, caring people are isolated because they dont believe in a concept that is just AGAINST thier perception of reason. Christ would spit on all those that do that. There quite a few of 'em here. 56/58 # 99053 I ask questions From: NIKADEMUS on Thu Mar 16 6:51pm because I wish to learn. I want to know many things, I am a student. I do not ask questions to 'tear down the bible', but only to mearly seek knowledge® The Money Changers (PTL and company) are still in the temples trying to sell salvation, as they did in Jesus's time. If Jesus was still here today, I'm sure that he'd tople their tables (maybe he is, the IRS is attacking the PTL and others for tax evasion and unreported income!) like he did 2000 years ago® God gave use a free will, a right to choose, more than just 2 choices in most cases. There cannot be a left without a right, a light without dark, a good without evil. Thus in order for good things to happen, some bad things must happen. 57/58 # 99071 Nice point From: S'TALON on Thu Mar 16 9:47pm Nick, if there was no evil, what would good have to strive against. One needs a dichotomy to accuratly measure true good or true evil. Ironman- Sad to say, I have found most churches to be EITHER THROUGHLY SLAVISH or THROUGHLY INEFFECTIVE. One or tthe other. Hardly ever, have a found a good church that has survived for more than 5 years and has remained good and powerful. However, I finally decided to admit that I was powerless over the situation and get a relationship with a real Higher Power, and to rely on myself and what I could get from books, and other people about God, instead of some cleric. I have found that most clerics are greedy and power-hungry and only become clerics to enhjoy the free ride and/or an easy way to get power or money. That is not to say there are not good clerics, as there are good in almost every group, but most of the good clerics are not all that powerful in their demoniation or knowledge. Why is it in chruches, you have a cleric preaching at you, instead of a topic being decided for the night and all people of the congregation being able to speak ther views on it. It would seem sharing knowledge would be better than just having a preacher preach at you and try to force his views down your throat. It would seem if all people in a church were able to speak, there would be more sharing of knowledge. Also, everyone should be equal in meeting. There should be no cleric/layity as there are in chruches. Just someone to moderate the meeting and introduce the topic and to close te meeting and then make announcemnts (or announcements at beginning). In a lot of churches I see a lot of dictatorship instead of democracy and God's love.
