102/104 # 103153 Well, I certainly don't From: IRONMAN on Sun May 7 1:26am know of ANY Christians who aren't aware that writers of the NEW Testament were of Jewish origin® So ? And this issue of SLACC is rather interesting , Kid. You say you don't want an entrance exam to use a system: hmmm, I guess you didn't have to be validated here ? And you mentioned that you want access to SLACC ? Okay, you've got it: just dial 947-0895 and go through the normal validation procedures. Will you get access to all subbies ? Probably not® So ? Some of the sub-boards there are the EXACT EQUIVALENT of private E-mail, but are open to the CHRISTIANS who use it because THAT IS HOW OPEN WE ARE TO EACH OTHER . I may , in reading a post from Fire Escape to Tempest on PRIVATE matters of faith in her life, LEARN® She is willing to share these private matters with other Christians. So am I . So are the other Christians on the private subbies. So go ahead, become validated on SLACC, and enjoy. If you are restricted from certain a certain sub-board, remember: I don't read your E-mail to others on THIS board: I don't expect YOU to read mine on SLACC. If my E-mail to others on SLACC is open to other Christians, so be it® That you may or may not be able to have this same level of trust on this board with your fellow secular posters is not my problem. Post away on the Public Boards on SLACC, as I do on this board. If this board isn't as advanced to enable group forums like SLACC , complain to the sysop. Finally, I'll say it again: Christian "agitation" didn't kill the other MTABBS board® No, it saved it. When the Christians "died" on that board, so did the board. 103/104 # 103206 It is no From: S'TALON on Sun May 7 11:49pm wonder they call Ironman, the bullshit man (He even has his own subbie dedicated to bullshit) on Outer Planes. Well, it appears that the above post is again bullshit. Saying when that the Christian agitation saved the MTABBS is bullshit. Junk Drawer has done a 100% better since Marlin nuked the philosophy board over there. Galactic was a spot that was pressed by PBBS again and again. Also, as far as level of trust, it has been my experience that Non-Thumper organizations and people have a far better trust level. At least they don't excommunicate you for questioning the status quo. Also, I am quite sure mine is not the only case in the world. History is full of examples. And if you thumpers really respect the Jews, then why do condemn them for following their own conscience? -S'Talon 104/104 # 103222 64 MESSAGES AGO... From: CAVE MAN on Mon May 8 8:41am I last called, but had hardware problems and didnt return. I cant BEGIN to comment on ALL THAT, but i have to dribble anyway. I saw Tal, as usual tilting at windmills, and the windmills took offense and tried to turn faster. I saw IRONMAN post five msgs in a row, that i liked. Showed thought, consise, didnt have(Epic1:101). Thank you for communicating. I take exception to the rule of multiple posts, in that it addressed different issues, so it was like five different msgs. I saw KID speaking out against closed cultures on BBSSes. An issue i hope the Biblicans here heard, because those who limit the least of me, limits all of me. I saw CT acting VERY Christ like. Are you OK FE? Or have you just gotten out of your league? This issue about BBSers killing a system by overactivity is bunk. Unless the system is small and lacks multiple board access. Using the BBS to proliferate an ideology is another issue though. It can only be employed by someone who is willing to shit all over someones private world, which is definately not a christian act. Which brings me to my game. If you wanna use his name, youou gotta play his game. What we (some of us non-biblican Christians) need to see is more Christian behaviour from the biblican sect. Biff... you said you didnt love KID? Certainly not because of his sins. If you cant show me Christ, i wouldnt believe you, even if you quoted the Bible. Somebody here is discrediting the Bible by shouting it from loudspeakers till everybody turns away from the din. I've been BBSing for over 15 years, try to find an unchristian word in ANY of it. Finally point no. 6. If you can find one flaw(mote) in a list of questions, it invalidates the entire list, the question raised, the soul who raised it, and any reply. Thats not answers, thats tactics. Oh yeah.... Anybody out there that thinks that you can organize a group of people to disrupt BBSing with Thier agenda by sheer persistance, youou got a surprize coming... or Orange you tired of this yet?. [] CAVE MAN [] 100/111 # 103243 On S'Talon... From: TRITON on Mon May 8 2:38pm I think it is fair to ask which came first, the chicken or the egg. Did S'Talon become rebellious because a 'thumper church' kicked him out, or did that church kick him out because he was rebellious? Just a casual thought. 101/111 # 103247 The latter, I think From: BURGUNDY-ORANGE BIFF on Mon May 8 3:09pm would apply..... And Cave Man, all I said was that I didn't say anything about love towards Kid. Just because I didn't for example say that I was a mass murderer doesn't change the fact... I just don't announce love. 102/111 # 103258 For your information... From: EZEKIEL on Mon May 8 4:51pm you are sadly misinformed if you think all Christians are anti-Jewish. True Christians have a lot of respect for the Jewish people because they recognize the fact that the Jewish people are God's chosen nation. And yes, Jewish people DID write the Old & New Testament. The difference is that the Jews who wrote the New Testament believed that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah that the Jewish nation has been waiting for. So, not only do we have the Jews to thank for our Christian heritage, but we look forward to the time when God will again be using them in world-shattering events! Therefore, if you find a person claiming to be a Christian, that person either needs a history lesson or an attitude change. OR they are not really a Christian! Regarding the issue of defining a Christian, do you think that God is the one who is qualified to tell us what guidelines we should use in determining what a Christian is? If you don't think God is qualified, then why are you claiming to be a Christian? If you do think God is qualified, how do you propose to find out what He says? My answer is: the Bible. You cannot be a non-Biblical Christian and expect to be pleasing to God. One more thing, many of you have already noticed one requirement for a person claiming to be a Christian. The very thing you are accusing the 'thumpers' of lacking. LOVE. Be sure you are not guilty of the same sin which you are pointing out to others. You might rightly be called a hypocrite by either side. I'm not saying this only to one group. This is a warning to ALL sides! So, before accusing someone of lacking love, be sure you are showing it first... 103/111 # 103260 Another post from me... From: EZEKIEL on Mon May 8 5:18pm I know many of you don't like to read Bible quotes, bear with me. If you do, you'll enjoy this. Read this and think about it. Tell me what you think it's saying. Job 14:10 But man dies and is laid away; Indeed he breathes his last and where is he? 104/111 # 103265 From: TEMPEST on Mon May 8 8:31pm The Kid, Please, quit playing the eternal antagonist. "Blessed are the peacemakers." I am NOT insulting or putting down CT, QUIT putting words into my mouth. I would appreciate it if you came down off your pedestal. As far as everything else is concerned....blah, blah, blah. "We's just trying to stir trouble massir! We can't feel fulfilled unless wezza hurt people and make unbased malicious statements." The voice of ignorance and the ugly face of predjudice rear to spew venom. This is not pointing a finger to anyone in particular, it is just to point out what things MIGHT seem like. Frankly, this isn't worth my time, since some only desire to be antagonistic and cruel. I hope you recieve satisfaction from talking to yourself. Last Message (?=Help): F Filter This Subbie (y/n): Y 105/111 # 103271 An open letter to S'Talon: From: TRITON on Mon May 8 9:56pm Mike, Despite our recent phone conversations, I feel some clarification is needed on several points. Firstly, who are you (or anyone else) to say that the boards should be free from 'thumpers'? As a historical note, the earliest computers were developed in wartime to solve the problems of attacking rapidly moving aircraft. Does that mean that any use of computers besides that of attacking the enemy is invalid? Secondly, I continue to fail to see the relationship between 'hacking' and D&D. To me, 'hacking' is the creative process by which most major computer breakthroughs have been made. On the other hand, to me, D&D is a fantasized way of life, that has not led to any computer breakthroughs that I am aware of. I can tolerate your participation in D&D despite my disinterest, but to say that D&D fits into BBSing and thumping does not, when in my opinion both are completely irrelevant to the issues of computer science, is very specious of you (and no, 'specious' is not a neologism, it is in the dictionary). Thirdly, I can tolerate opinions that conflict with mine, but especially on a board on which I am co-sysop, I do not like to see name-calling even against people I disagree with. If you want to attack the people and not their reasoning, then I suggest you take your arguments elsewhere. I don't like being called a sinner either, but Ironman and others will get their point across if for no other reason than they are showing a sense of humor and you are not. S'Talon, I care very deeply about you and also about FE and Biff and the rest, but when one of my friends starts going against the 12-step program, then I have just as much reason to say you are not representative of Crossroads, as the 'thumpers' have reason to say you are not representative of Christianity. Whatever happened to the quote from page 449 about acceptance? Keep in mind you can always filter this board if you don't like it. Enough said, I hope. 106/111 # 103272 Stuff From: S'TALON on Mon May 8 10:37pm Triton- True, I do get out of hand some times (I'm only human, you know, not claiming to be perfect), but the NON-ACCEPTANCE of the thumpers really gets to me. The chicken came first (church being repressive), history is on my side. Also, I know a lot of friends that were persecuted by various churches for their beliefs. Also, as far as AD&D and hacking, I think they are quite related. From hacking's earliest days, there was a distinct intrest in gaming and SF and fantasy. (ala First Generation, MIT and Stanford) Also, I very much like philosophy, however the original philo boards were talking about relevant issues, not all this religous dribble. About acceptance- I am able to accept thumpers, but they should be able to accept my AD&D, my hacking, my intrest in SF/Fantasy and in conventions in return. Also, I should not be persecuted as others have for listening to certain kinds of music (like Rush). I am also entitled to a freedom of religon and seeking my own beliefs. I remember when some thumper claimed Jimi didn't have any concept of a higher power, because he chose to worship the deities of old, instead of your version of a Christian God. His religon is as rich as your own, probably more so. One last thing, Ironman said that this software was not able to have conferences like MAGPIE. Well, we do. It is controlled by something called user types. An example would be a AD&D board. It is all public E-Mail, but it is only seen and accessed by those who are actually playing in the game or the DM him/herself. 107/111 # 103283 Suggestion: From: IRONMAN on Tue May 9 3:48am ( actually, a repeat of a suggestion made a few posts back ). Calm down. Everyone take a breather. "Everyone" as in " Me, too ". As someone pointed out, it has all the appearance of hypocrisy to be talking about "love" when fire is coming out of our nostrils, or appears to be. Suggestion: Ask anything. Of anyone. About anything. It's very gratifying to be able to answer a question posted in a cordial manner. It's very grating to HAVE to answwer a question posted in a corrosive manner. This applies to EVERYONE. "Everyone" means " Me, too ". If we ask a question, let's genuinely listen to the response. If we give a response, and people appear to become upset, let's candidly ask ourselves " Why ? " instead of just shrugging it off with a superficial " Oh well ". If we READ a response, and people appear to become upset at our apparent inability to comprehend the response, let's not automatically blame the person posting the response. Again, let's at LEAST be candid with ourselves. Fair enough ? I'm sure there is a lot more advice out there which can help keep the train on the track. 108/111 # 103286 YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED From: CAVE MAN on Tue May 9 4:33am That *I* personally require love from anyone here who claims to be a Christian (unless they can come up with a variation of Christianity tha i never heard of). This does not apply to anyone who does not claim to be a follower. If someone cant learn love from the Christians, where will they learn it? (from the pagans) As i mentioned earlier, Tal is not always the calmest or consistent of us, but he knows i kid him about this in person. (on the other hand i cant even drive legaly). There is no reason that anyone should take his asaults personly. This is not to say he should be silenced, for his voice is needed as much as anyone elses. OK Biff, i really am tired of quotes pulled out of a hat like they were relevent, but seem to have no meaning. I read it... several times. Man dies etc... what did you mean by that? Or was it a question? I am here to learn, even about gods works. If i wanted to read the bible, i would read it, not someone elses words. Why not upload it, so it is in context. So what does it mean to you? After death, are we wating for reincarnation? Have you ever seen anything in the real world that tends to substantiate your belief? I really would like it if the Biblicans could speak thier minds, but nothing i have said so far has seemed to convince them that they have a mind. Many of these suboards were started for the exchange of philosophies, but some would perfer to swap partial bible passages, out of context, as if they have meaning. The meaning( and relevence) of most of them has excaped me completely. Is this a tactic, or am i so completely dense that i cant see it? I thought of all that, and typed it as it came out. Used to be most BBSing consisted of what people thought, and it will be again... just waiting around.
